This was waiting in my Google Reader this morning and all of the comments made me think about my own “thank you, random stranger” moments.

Two that stand out:

Around mile 10.5 of my first half marathon, a disheveled woman was standing at one of the intersections and yelled “you inspire me!” I gave her a look of utter tiredness/disbelief and she said “really, you do.” And then I found the energy to start passing some people.

Chicago marathon, mile 20ish. Jason was faithfully cheering on runners from the sidelines, but he joined our no-longer-so-merry band of Tumblrs and trudged along with us for a few miles despite his own injuries.

Oh, and then there’s the entire Internet in Chicago. So thank you, all of you former random strangers.
